For the Love of Art

Art Scrittura grew out of my enchantment with the magic of art. My early fascination with art led me to studio classes in painting and sculpture, followed by years of personal engagement and professional training in California, Paris and London, where I received three degrees in the History of Art.

Art Scrittura is the gratifying outcome of the synergy between scholarly pursuits, aesthetic sensibilities, and my passion for art. As someone under the spell of art’s magic, resonating with a particular work of art comes as a revelation that enlivens and enriches life in profound ways. My work is motivated by the mysterious aspects of creativity, and by the compelling and diverse narratives of encounter with physical art objects.

Besides art’s aesthetic and intellectual attractions, I am fascinated by the twin creative impulses of making art and collecting it. When creative expression is authentic, both artist and collector are engaged in an unfolding process that engenders meaning and aliveness more than almost any other activity in life.

Art is one of the most profound ways human beings can express being alive, and one of the most intimate ways of sharing it with others. Whether music, dance, literature or visual art, the range of emotional expression that art provides is the heart of culture that sustains our lives.  Art connects us more deeply to ourselves, to others, and to the world. To be receptive to the magic of art is to enhance the joy of life to the fullest.
